How end-to-end encryption works
What is encrypted?
Tracks you upload from the Audura iPhone or desktop app are encrypted on your device before they leave it. Each file gets its own key, and that key is locked with your account key, which only your devices hold. Audura's servers store the encrypted file and can't play or read it. Titles, artists and cover art are not encrypted, so your library can be shown and searched.
Can I listen to encrypted tracks on the website?
Only if you turn on web playback for a track. That uploads a separate unencrypted copy so browsers can play it. You can turn it off anytime, which deletes that copy. Without it, encrypted tracks play in the iPhone and desktop apps.
How do I use encrypted music on another device?
On the desktop app, scan the code it shows with the Audura iPhone app to link it, or enter your recovery phrase. The account key is then stored on that computer.
How sharing works
Share links
Every track and playlist can have a private link. For each link you choose:
- PIN: listeners need a code to play.
- Expiry: the link stops working after a set time.
- Private: people request access and you approve each one.
- Downloads and feedback on or off.
You can reset a link (the old one stops working) or delete it at any time.
Sharing with someone by username
Share a track or playlist with an Audura user directly. They get an invite and, once they accept, it shows up in their library under Shared with you. Shared playlists stay live: when you add or remove tracks, they see the change.
Sharing encrypted music
Encrypted tracks stay encrypted when shared. Your device unlocks them for each person you share with. That happens automatically, usually within seconds, the next time your iPhone or desktop app is reachable. Until then the listener sees “Unlocking tracks…”.
What Pro includes

Managing or cancelling
On the web and desktop, go to Settings and open your subscription. On iPhone, subscriptions bought in the app are managed in your Apple ID settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions).
How to recover your account
I forgot my password
On the sign-in page, choose “Forgot password” and we'll email you a reset link.
I lost the device with my encrypted music
Sign in on a new device and enter your recovery phrase. You saw it when you set up encryption, and you can view it again on iPhone in Settings → Encryption. Keep it somewhere safe: Audura can't see your phrase or your account key, so without the phrase encrypted tracks can't be recovered by anyone, including us.
I lost my two-factor authentication device
Email us from the address on your account and we'll help you get back in.
How offline playback works
Downloading for offline
In the iPhone and desktop apps, choose “Download” or “Make available offline” on a track, or “Download all” on a playlist. Downloads are unlimited on every plan and play without an internet connection.
Are downloads secure?
Encrypted tracks stay encrypted on your device and are decrypted only while they play. Tracks shared with you can be downloaded when the owner allows it.
